Questions and answers about chip tuning...

1. What are the reasons car manufacturers don’t outfit most of their cars with the maximum engine power?

Of course, it would be possible to produce the cars with the maximum engine output right in the manufacturers plant. But the large car manufacturers are producing for the international market. Therefore the requirements regarding insurance, fuel quality, climate conditions and other regulations are very different in those markets and the manufacturer have to take all of this into account. That results in a compromise for the engineering outlay of car and truck engines for the mass production. But even the manufacturers are using chip tuning in selected models. For example, the technical difference between a Mercedes C 200 CDI and C 220 CDI is purely electronically.

2. Can chip tuning damage the car engine?

No, because today’s car and truck engines are designed with fully electronic motor management in order to prevent engine damage and to optimize the engine operating conditions. Chip tuning does not change this electronic motor management, because the tuning is integrated in the electronic motor management.

3. What’s about the warranty?

The chip tuning comes with a 5 year warranty on the software. For the vehicle engine is an additional warranty available (see Warranty Terms and Conditions).

4. What kinds of car and truck engines are eligible for chip tuning?

Chip tuning is applicable for fuel as well as for diesel engines provided the engine is equipped with an electronic motor management. That said, engines with turbo chargers, compressors or G-chargers are the most effective to tune.

5. Are older cars or trucks eligible for chip tuning?

Yes, if the older model vehicle is equipped with an engine with electronic motor management.

6. What is the right time to cip tune brand new car and trucks?

A brand new vehicle should be driven for about 2000 Miles before installing chip tuning on the engine.

7. Are there do-it-yourself kits available for this chip tuning?

No, this chip tuning has to be done in our specialized service stations by our trained and certified technicians.

8. More or less gas mileage?

With the Power Tuning, torque and horsepower output are increased, which results in faster acceleration and higher top speed with less gas mileage in the full load engine operation mode. With the ECO Tuning the torque is increased only, which results in an overall higher gas mileage in the partial load engine operation mode.

9. What kind of fuel should be used after the chip tuning?

The vehicle manufacturers recommended fuel can be used, but in order to take advantage of the chip tuning it is recommended to use premium gas.

10. How long does the installation of the chip tuning take?

Our chip tuning will be installed and tested completely within 1 workday.

11. Is the additional performance immediately noticeable?

As soon as the new software is saved in the engine control unit (ECU) the car has more power. A lot of newer cars reach their full (optimum) performance only after it is retracted. The new ECU works with a flasheprom and a processor. The new map is positioned on the flasheprom. The processor takes this new data from the flasheprom over bit by bit to control the motor with it. So the electronics has to learn to work with the new data. Depending on the type of vehicle this learning process takes up to 200 km to reach the full rated power.
